Laboratory of Agent-Based Social Simulation (ISTC-CNR)

The Laboratory of Agent-Based Social Simulation (LABSS) is a highly interdisciplinary research group working at the intersection among cognitive, social and computational social sciences.
The LABSS was funded in the 90s within the Institute of Cognitive Sciences and Technologies of the National Research Council of Italy by the cognitive scientist Rosaria Conte.
Since its early days, the laboratory has been characterized by an explorative approach to Agent Based Simulation. Reserachers working at LABSS are now starting combining simulations and laboratory experiments for modeling the micro-macro relationship between individual motivations and collective outcomes to unfold the complexity of human social behavior. A specific focus regards the dynamics of social artifacts (such as reputation, opinion dynamics, and social norms) through and thanks to the dynamics of the mind.
